CONSULTATION: A consultation is usually one or two sessions, and may be helpful when an individual is looking more for information than a resolution to a problem. Sometimes, an individual simply wants to understand how a professional might view a situation, or they may want advice on how to confront a specific situation. Sometimes, an individual is considering psychotherapy and is not sure they want to make the commitment. A consultation is an opportunity to discuss whatever is on the person's mind in a time limited, concrete way.
